This Reflections piece has been created on canvas, street art walls, silk screen prints, NFTs and now these foil editions. Inspired by all of the previous variations of this piece, I have created 13 different pieces in the lenses like the NFT collection, in 4 different shiny foil colours that play on popular colours from previous works with red, pink, gold and rainbow.
Andy Warhol was a juggernaut and a pioneer in the pop art style. His work forced people to question what art was as he mocked the preconceptions of the art world and took every day objects like cans of soup and made them art. Warhols attitude towards mainsteam culture and celebrity influenced a lot of his work and these popular icons inspired him to become iconic in his own right. Using methods like silk screen printing which weren't considered as tools for making fine art and repetition of an object forced people to reconsider what could be art and what can be used to make art. It was this outside the box thinking and new approaches that made Warhol change the face of art and laid the foundations for countless artists to explore printing, stenciling and photography as ways to become artists in their own rights. I owe a lot to Warhol and his ability to change perceptions in the art world.
